Roundtable: Delivering an SAP core model project for business process convergence at Thales

On 9 June indysource Members had the opportunity to join our second Live Roundtable Event in 2022 hosted by Sopra Steria. Sopra Steria presented a customer case at Thales in which they helped Thales in a single large but complex program. The speakers at the Roundtable were Eric Olivier Leindecker - Global Account Manager, and Etienne Beslay - Program Director and Sebastien Nys - Delivery Director Financial Services.

Thales Group's management saw this SAP program as a unique opportunity to converge industrial and financial processes between the various entities in France (>21,000 users), by sharing best practices. Further objectives were to obtain productivity gains, reduce operating and support costs and prepare for the digital transformation.

Sopra Steria has jointly developed with Thales the solution with an implementation of SAP in multiple sites across 8 global business units. The solution was developed and implemented over multiple years at fixed cost, with a more regular SAP project phasing including rollouts in combination with an Agile collaboration in developing and implementing the SAP Fiori based end-user layer.
